Chapter 10 - The Garden of Forever

One year later.
The summer sun shone warmly over the Long Island estate, washing the gardens in vibrant colors of blooming roses, green lawns, and golden sunlight.
A grand white marquee tent had been set up on the cliffside lawn overlooking the ocean, decorated with white orchids, crystal chandeliers, and gold ribbons.
The gentle strains of a harp played through the warm afternoon breeze as two hundred guests—including high-ranking city officials, loyal board members, and personal friends—took their seats along the flower-strewn aisle.
Inside the estate’s master dressing room, Nora stood before a full-length mirror.
She wore a breathtaking ivory lace wedding gown that flowed down into a dramatic train. Her hair was styled in elegant, sweeping waves, adorned with tiny diamond pins. She looked radiant, powerful, and deeply happy—a picture of health and undeniable grace.
Beside her, six-year-old Kloe stood wearing a matching pale pink flower-girl dress, a tiny silver tiara resting on her blonde ringlets, holding a wicker basket filled with white rose petals.
"Mom," Kloe squealed softly, bouncing on her heels. "You look like a real queen!"
Nora kneeled down, careful not to wrinkle her dress, and gently pinched her daughter’s soft, pink cheek. "And you are the most beautiful princess in the whole world, my sweet girl."
A soft knock sounded at the door, and Marcus stepped inside, wearing a crisp tuxedo. "It's time, Ms. Ellis. The groom is waiting."
Nora took a deep, steadying breath, grabbed her bouquet of white roses, and took Kloe’s hand as they walked down the grand marble staircase toward the garden.
As the wedding march began to play, the guests stood up in solemn, joyous respect.
At the end of the aisle, standing under a magnificent archway of white jasmine and roses, stood Adrian Vale.
He wore a tailored black tuxedo, looking remarkably handsome, tall, and formidable. But as his dark eyes caught sight of Nora walking down the aisle toward him, his formidable posture melted into raw, unadulterated devotion. Tears filled his eyes—tears of overwhelming gratitude for the miracle that had saved his soul.
Kloe skipped down the aisle ahead of her mother, happily throwing white rose petals onto the carpet, before running straight to Adrian’s side and holding onto his hand.
Nora reached the altar, slipping her hand into Adrian’s broad, warm palm.
"You are breathtaking," Adrian whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
"I love you, Adrian," Nora whispered back, her brown eyes shining with pure joy.
The priest opened his book, his voice carrying clearly across the quiet, sunlit ocean cliffside.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to unite this man and this woman in holy matrimony... a bond built not by convenience, but forged through trial, restored by truth, and blessed by love."
As the sacred vows were spoken and the golden rings were exchanged, Adrian knelt down on one knee in front of little Kloe before putting the ring on Nora’s finger.
He pulled a small velvet box from his pocket and opened it, revealing a tiny, delicate gold bracelet engraved with the words: My First Miracle.
He fastened it gently around Kloe’s wrist.
"I promise to love your mother, and I promise to be the best father in the world to you for the rest of my life, Kloe," Adrian said softly.
Kloe threw her tiny arms around his neck, kissing his cheek. "I love you, Dad!"
Adrian stood back up, turning to Nora, pulling her gently by the waist into his arms.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the priest declared with a beaming smile. "You may kiss the bride!"
Adrian dipped Nora back, pressing his lips against hers in a deep, passionate kiss that brought the entire crowd to their feet in thunderous, roaring applause.
Later that evening, as the stars began to twinkle over the quiet, dark ocean, the grand wedding reception continued under the glowing lights of the marquee.
Adrian and Nora stood together on the edge of the stone terrace, holding glasses of champagne, watching Kloe happily playing tag on the lawn with Mrs. Gable and the security team.
Nora leaned her head against Adrian’s shoulder, feeling the solid, warm beat of his heart beneath his tuxedo.
"Do you remember what you thought when she first walked up to your table in the garden restaurant?" Nora asked softly.
Adrian wrapped his arm securely around her waist, pulling her close, looking out at his daughter’s bright, ringed laughter beneath the stars.
"I thought I was looking at a stranger," Adrian whispered, pressing a tender kiss into her hair. "I didn't know she was coming to give me back my life."

Outside, the ocean breeze blew softly through the jasmine trees, carrying the sweet scent of summer across the estate.
The empty chair at the garden table was gone forever—replaced by a home filled with light, laughter, and a love that nothing in this world could ever break again.
