Chapter 10 - The Last Legacy

Ten years later.

The Bellavita estate was quiet on a golden autumn afternoon.

In the grand library on the first floor, sunlight poured through the tall stained-glass windows, casting long, colorful beams across thousands of leather-bound books, ancient maps, and framed family portraits.

Standing at the large mahogany desk was Sophia Carter.

At eighteen years old, she was a striking, brilliant young woman. She wore a dark green blazer over a white blouse, her dark hair falling in soft, luxurious curls down her back. On her lapel pinned a small gold badge: PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR - HARVARD PRE-MED.

She was packing a leather satchel, preparing to leave for her freshman year at university.

The heavy oak doors opened slowly.

Rocco Bellavita walked into the library.

He was sixty-eight now. He walked with a polished silver-topped cane—not because he was weak, but because he enjoyed the weight of it. His face was lined with age, but his eyes remained as sharp and piercing as black diamonds.

"You’re leaving early," Rocco said, his voice still carrying that deep, comforting rumble.

"Traffic to Boston gets terrible after two, Uncle Rocco," Sophia smiled, stepping around the desk and hugging the old man tightly.

Rocco wrapped his arm around her, holding her close, feeling the warmth of the life he had fought so hard to protect.

"Did you double-check your trunk?" Rocco asked with a smirk. "Dante packed three security guards in the backseat of your car."

Sophia laughed, shaking her head. "I told Dante I only need one driver! I’m going to college, not a war zone!"

"To me, anywhere outside these gates is a war zone," Rocco said softly, pulling back to look at her proud face. "You carry a heavy name now, Sophia. Sophia Bellavita-Carter. The world will know who stands behind you."

He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small, velvet-lined wooden box.

"Before you go," Rocco said, "I have one last gift for you."

Sophia opened the box carefully.

Inside rested a simple, polished silver pill bottle. But it wasn't a bottle for medication. It was a solid silver pillbox, beautifully engraved with intricate vines and roses.

On the front, stamped in elegant gold lettering, was a single inscription:

"THE BOTTLE THAT SAVED THE KING." TO SOPHIA - WITH ETERNAL LOVE AND GRATITUDE, ROCCO.

Tears filled Sophia’s eyes as she touched the cold, smooth silver. She remembered the scared little five-year-old girl in faded sneakers holding a medicine bottle against her chest in a room full of dangerous adults.

"I keep it on my desk every single morning, Sophia," Rocco whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "To remind me that the most powerful thing in the world isn't money, guns, or fear. It’s the truth in a child's heart."

Sophia wrapped her arms around his neck once again, burying her face against his shoulder.

"I love you, Uncle Rocco," she whispered.

"I love you too, my little savior," Rocco murmured back, kissing her forehead gently. "Now go. Go change the world. And remember..."

Sophia pulled back, looking into his sharp dark eyes with a radiant, brilliant smile.

"Always face the bottle toward the sun," she finished.

Rocco smiled—a full, brilliant, beautiful smile—as he walked her down the grand marble staircase, out into the bright afternoon light, where her future was waiting.
