Chapter 1 - The Breach of Juriquilla

The wail of the sirens did not fade into the background of the exclusive Juriquilla neighborhood; instead, it multiplied. The high stone walls of the estate vibrated as three state police cruisers and a specialized medical transport van tore through the gated community's security barriers, their tires screeching violently against the pristine asphalt.
Inside the kitchen, the atmosphere shattered. Adrian’s hand froze on Mariana’s arm. The arrogant smirk on his face faltered, replaced by a twitch of irritation.
"What is that?" Beatriz asked, setting her wine glass down on the marble counter with a sharp clink. "Did someone in the neighborhood have an accident? Adrian, go look outside. It's making too much noise."
Don Ramiro walked into the kitchen from the living room, holding the television remote, his brow furrowed. "The police just blew past the main guardhouse. I can see the flashing lights through the front hedges. They're stopping at our gate."
Before Adrian could step toward the foyer, the heavy oak front door groaned under a massive impact.
"State Police! Open the door immediately!" a voice boomed through a megaphone.
"What the hell is this?" Adrian snarled, his voice rising in anger rather than fear. He still believed his status protected him. He walked toward the front of the house, shouting, "Do you know who lives here? I'll have your badges for—"
He didn't get to finish. The lock shattered as a tactical entry team forced the door open. Officer Lucia Hernandez stepped through the smoke, her sidearm drawn but lowered, flanked by three armed officers. Right behind her was Attorney Natalia Torres, holding a rugged digital tablet that glowed with a live video feed.
"Adrian Hale," Officer Lucia said, her voice like ice. "Step away from the hallway and put your hands behind your head."
"Are you insane?" Beatriz yelled, rushing out of the kitchen. "This is private property! My husband is a city advisor! You can't just break into our home because a servant or a neighbor complained!"
Natalia Torres turned the screen of her tablet toward Beatriz. On it was a crystal-clear, high-definition replay of Adrian shoving Mariana’s hand onto the burning griddle, accompanied by Beatriz’s laugh and the audio of her saying, “It was about time she learned where she belongs.”

"The recording is broadcast live to a secure state server under an active protection mandate," Natalia said calmly. "We don't need a warrant to prevent a felony in progress, Mrs. Hale. We have a live confession."
Adrian looked from the screen to the kitchen, his face draining of all color. For the first time in his life, he realized the walls of his house weren't thick enough to hide his true nature.
