Chapter 9 - Justice Served

Three months later. The High Court of Justice in Milan.

The courtroom was packed with international media, corporate lawyers, and members of the elite public. Camila Vance and Marcus Rossi sat at the defense table dressed in dark orange prison jumpsuits, flanked by court-appointed guards. The arrogance that once defined them was entirely gone; Marcus looked gaunt and defeated, while Camila wept silently into her manicured hands.

Julian Rossi sat in the front row of the gallery, impeccably styled, holding Elena’s hand tightly in his lap. Elena looked radiant, her health restored, her strength fully returned, dressed in a tailored white suit that commanded respect from everyone in the courtroom.

The judge slammed his gavel onto the wooden block, bringing immediate silence to the gallery.

"In the matter of the State versus Marcus Rossi and Camila Vance," the judge declared, his stern gaze sweeping over the defense table. "The evidence presented—including forensic financial audits, intercepted encrypted communications, and eye-witness testimony—demonstrates a premeditated campaign of kidnapping, extortion, corporate treason, and endangerment of life."

The judge looked directly at Marcus.

"Marcus Rossi, for your key role in orchestrating the abductions, extortion, and attempted murder of Elena Rossi, as well as grand corporate embezzlement, this court sentences you to forty-five years in maximum-security prison without the possibility of parole."

Marcus slumped back in his chair, staring blankly at the ceiling as if his soul had left his body.

"Camila Vance," the judge continued, turning to the trembling woman. "For your active participation in human trafficking, falsification of legal records, and conspiracy, you are sentenced to twenty-two years in state custody."

Gavel slammed. The courtroom erupted into whispers and camera flashes.

As security guards handcuffed Marcus and Camila to drag them away toward the holding cells, Marcus briefly caught Julian’s eye. Julian didn't sneer, mock, or celebrate. He simply looked at his stepbrother with utter indifference, as if looking at a ghost that no longer held any power over his reality.

Out on the grand steps of the courthouse, a wall of reporters thrust microphones toward Julian and Elena.

"Mr. Rossi! Mrs. Rossi! Do you have any statement regarding the verdict?" a journalist shouted.

Julian stepped up to the microphones, wrapping his arm securely around Elena’s waist, pulling her close to his side.

" justice has been served," Julian said clearly into the recording devices. " Rossi Enterprises has permanently severed all ties with those who sought to destroy it. But more importantly, my family is whole, safe, and home. That is the only victory that matters."
