Chapter 10 - The Horizon of Tomorrow

The ceremony on the lawn was a beautiful, brief affair, sealed with a passionate kiss under an archway of white roses as the crowd erupted into a thunderous, genuine ovation.
Now, as the evening sun began to set, casting a long, golden light across the estate lake, the reception was in full swing. The orchestra played a soft, romantic melody, and the guests danced on the outdoor pavilion under strings of fairy lights.
Arthur and Sarah stood near the edge of the water, watching Toby play tag with a group of children on the grass. The little boy’s laughter carried across the quiet water, a clear, pure sound that held no memory of shame or fear.
"Look at him," Sarah murmured, resting her head against Arthur’s shoulder, her hand sliding into his, the sapphire ring catching the last rays of the sun. "He’s so happy, Arthur. He doesn't look back anymore."
"He has no reason to," Arthur said, turning her gently to face him. He reached down, his fingers tracing the soft line of her jaw. "We’ve built a wall of light around him, Sarah. And around us."
"A year ago, I was standing in that bakery, convinced my life was completely over," Sarah whispered, her eyes shining as she looked up into his face. "I thought the world was just a cold, cruel place where the powerful crush the weak."
"The world can be that way," Arthur agreed softly, his voice full of an unbreakable promise. "But as long as I have breath in my body, this family will be the place where the weak find strength, where the hungry find bread, and where the broken find a home."

He leaned down, his lips meeting hers in a deep, peaceful kiss that sealed their past, celebrated their present, and opened the door to an endless, beautiful tomorrow.
Behind them, the children shouted in delight as the first fireworks of the evening erupted into the twilight sky, painting the world in brilliant, unstoppable shades of gold and starlight. The silence of the past was gone, replaced forever by the music of a family reborn.
