Chapter 10 - A Table for Healing

The long dining table in the sunroom of my estate was dressed in soft white linen, decorated with fresh spring flowers, crystal glasses, and silver cutlery.
The sun was setting over the hills, casting a warm, golden glow across the room.
Around the table sat the people who truly mattered: Arthur, Marcus, Victoria, Dr. Chen, Commissioner Fletcher, Julian, and at the head of the table, myself.
Beside me sat Sienna.
She wasn't carrying heavy platters with one arm. She wasn't watching the door in terror. She wasn't shrinking under the cruel glares of people who viewed her as property.
She sat relaxed, her laughter joining the lively conversation echoing around the table, her hand resting comfortably beside mine on the table.
Julian gently passed her a dish of roasted vegetables, offering her a warm, supportive smile as she took it with ease.
"A toast!" Arthur said, standing up and raising his glass of sparkling cider.
Everyone turned their attention to him.
"To justice, to family, and most importantly... to Sienna," Arthur declared warmly. "A woman who proved that true strength isn't about never falling—it's about rising up stronger than ever before."
"To Sienna!" everyone echoed in unison, raising their glasses.
Sienna smiled, tears of happy emotion shining in her eyes. She picked up her glass and held it high.
"And to my mother," Sienna added, looking directly into my eyes with an expression of profound, unshakeable love. "Who taught me that love never hurts, truth never cowers, and family always comes when you call."
We clinked our glasses together as the warm sounds of genuine laughter and affection filled the sunroom.
I looked around the table at the smiling faces of the people who had fought beside us, rebuilt our world, and protected what mattered most.
There were no rules enforced by fear here.
