Chapter 10 - The True Home

Two years after that dark Friday afternoon, our life had transformed into a haven of genuine warmth and security.
Linda remained in San Antonio, living a quiet, modest life under David’s supervision. While communication remained strictly limited to occasional, neutral written updates, the toxic power she once held over our lives was permanently erased.

Olivia walked in carrying a tray of fresh breakfast, glowing with a radiantly happy expression. She placed the tray down and took my hand, resting it gently against her stomach.
“I went to the doctor yesterday,” she whispered, her eyes shining with absolute bliss.
I looked at her, my heart skipping a beat. “Liv?”

I pulled her into my arms, holding her close as the morning sunlight bathed our quiet home.
Years ago, my mother had arrogantly declared to a yard full of strangers, “I’m the one keeping this family together.”

And in our home, that foundation was now unbreakable.
