Chapter 9 - A New Dawn

A year after the incident at the gate, the San Diego sun was brilliant and warm, casting a golden glow over the La Jolla coastline. The gray fog of the past was entirely gone, replaced by a clear, infinite blue sky.
Olivia stood on the deck of a beautifully restored wooden sailboat, the wind catching her dark hair. She looked healthy, vibrant, and radiantly happy. The heavy weight of maintaining a perfect, fragile illusion had been replaced by the lightweight freedom of living an authentic life.
Marcus was at the helm, navigating the vessel through the calm waters of the bay, while Ethan stood at the bow, laughing as a pod of dolphins swam alongside the hull.
"He’s growing up fast, Liv," Marcus said, looking over at his sister with a proud smile. "He’s got the Langford eyes. Sharp. Observant."
"He’s happy, Marcus," Olivia said, her eyes shining with emotion. "That's all I ever wanted for him. A life built on truth, not lies."
"And what about you?" Marcus asked gently. "Are you happy?"
