Chapter 8 - The Gift of Healing

Six months later. Spring in Colorado.
The snow on the Rocky Mountains had begun to melt, feeding the roaring rivers and bringing lush green grass and bright wildflowers to the valleys surrounding Denver.
I stood in the private garden terrace of Saint Jude Children's Research Center in Downtown Denver.
Around me stood two dozen doctors, nurses, board members, and journalists. Above the double glass doors leading into the newly constructed, state-of-the-art fertility and reproductive health wing, silver letters shone brightly in the sunlight:
THE SABRINA ROLLINS REPRODUCTIVE RESTORATION CENTER.
Using ten million dollars of the personal assets recovered from Kenneth's seized estate, I had fully funded the construction of a specialized medical facility dedicated to helping victims of medical malpractice, reproductive abuse, and complex fertility trauma.
Beside me stood Dr. Sarah Jenkins—a brilliant, warm-hearted reproductive surgeon whom I had met through my legal advocacy work over the past six months.
"It's a beautiful day, Sabrina," Dr. Jenkins smiled, handing me a glass of sparkling cider.
"It really is, Sarah," I replied, looking up at the mountains in the distance.
"Are you ready for your private consultation this afternoon?" Dr. Jenkins asked gently, touching my arm. "Dr. Vance and I reviewed your micro-surgical scan results from last week."
I turned to her, my heart beating fast. "What did the scans show?"
Dr. Jenkins smiled warmly, her eyes filled with profound hope.
"The scarring from the original procedure was extensive, Sabrina," Dr. Jenkins explained softly. "But with the new robotic tubal-recanalization technology we installed last month... there is a seventy-five percent chance we can fully restore your natural fertility."
Tears of pure, overwhelming joy welled in my eyes.
For three years, I had lived under the dark shadow of believing my future as a mother had been permanently stolen from me by a cruel, greedy man.
Now, standing in the sunshine of my own creation, I realized that no lie, no forgery, and no surgical steel could ever permanently destroy the power of rebirth.
"When can we schedule the surgery?" I asked, a radiant smile breaking across my face.

"Whenever you're ready, CEO," Dr. Jenkins laughed softly. "Next Tuesday?"
"Next Tuesday," I agreed, my heart flying light and free.
