Chapter 7 - The Trial of Loyalty

The annual shareholder summit arrived. Richard took the stage first, delivering a polished presentation on the impending acquisition of Apex Properties. He paused, looking out at the investors with practiced somberness.
"Regrettably," Richard announced, "our CEO Julian Vance has allowed personal biases to compromise our fiduciary responsibility. I am officially moving for a vote of no confidence."
The room erupted into whispers. Before the board could second the motion, the double doors at the back of the auditorium swung open.

I walked down the main aisle, backed not by bodyguards, but by federal investigators and my legal counsel. Beside me walked Anna, holding a sealed envelope containing her sister's recovered digital archives.
"Before you vote," I spoke into the room's microphone, my voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings, "you might want to review the true financial records of Apex Properties."
