Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece

The wedding was held in late September on the seaside lawn of their Bainbridge Island estate as the sun set over the distant Olympic Mountains.
It was not a corporate spectacle filled with politicians or media cameras.
It was an intimate, beautiful gathering of true friends—Marcus and his family, Arthur Vance, the hotel staff members who had treated Meg with kindness, and local neighbors.
Meg walked down the flower-draped aisle wearing an ethereal, lace-embellished ivory gown that flowed like ocean water behind her. She carried a bouquet of white roses and yellow lavender.
Standing at the altar, waiting for her under an arch of driftwood and white blossoms, was Rowan, looking strikingly handsome in a tailored dark blue tuxedo.
Beside him stood Finn, wearing a matching tiny tuxedo, acting as the proudest best man in the world.
As Meg reached the altar, Finn stepped forward, holding a silver velvet ring pillow.
On top of the pillow sat no ordinary ring box.
Finn had carefully, proudly folded a pristine white hand towel into a small, perfect nest, holding the two platinum wedding bands in the center.
The entire gathering let out a collective, soft sigh of warmth and emotion.
Rowan looked at Meg, tears glistening in his gray eyes as he took her hand in his.
"I, Rowan, take you, Meg, to be my wife," Rowan declared, his voice ringing out clear and strong against the sound of the ocean waves below. "To hold you in the storm, to honor you in the light, and to love you with every breath I have, forever."
"I, Meg, take you, Rowan, to be my husband," Meg replied, her voice trembling with happiness. "To stand beside you, to build our home in truth, and to love you and Finn beyond measure."
"By the power vested in me," the minister smiled warmly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Rowan pulled Meg into his arms, dipping her low as he kissed her deeply under the golden rays of the setting sun, while the guests erupted into cheers and joyful applause.
Finn jumped up and down, clapping his hands and laughing happily.
"Mom! Dad!" Finn shouted, running into their embrace as they stood up. "Look! Look!"
He pointed toward the ocean sky.
A flock of white sea gulls glided gracefully across the pink and gold horizon, their long wings folded against the evening wind, flying free and unburdened over the open water.
Rowan wrapped one arm around his wife and lifted his son onto his hip with the other, looking out over the endless, beautiful horizon of their future.

The silence was gone forever. In its place was love, light, and a home that would never be broken again.
