Chapter 3 - The Audit of the Wolves

By 8:00 AM, Alexander had established an operations center inside a secure office downtown. Sitting across from him was Marcus Vance, a high-stakes forensic accountant and former military intelligence analyst.

"The Robles family isn't as wealthy as they pretend to be, Colonel," Marcus said, throwing a thick financial ledger onto the table. "Carmen’s husband left them with thirty million dollars in commercial debt four years ago. Javier’s 'investment firm' is a glorified Ponzi scheme. They’ve been using high-interest hard money loans to maintain their mansions in Preston Hollow."

"So my daughter's condo wasn't just a luxury asset to them," Alexander noted, his eyes narrowing. "It was a lifeline."

"Exactly. The Uptown condo is worth $4.5 million cash, completely paid off. They needed to secure that title today to use it as collateral against a predatory loan coming due on Friday. If they don't get that collateral, the banks seize their primary assets, and Javier faces a federal indictment for securities fraud."

Alexander leaned back in his leather chair, tapping his fingers against his desk. "They thought they were targeting a defenseless girl with an absent father and a single mother. They thought they were buying a lifestyle with her blood."

"What’s the play, Colonel?" Marcus asked.

"We buy the debt," Alexander said flatly. "Every single piece of paper, every promissory note, every secondary mortgage connected to the Robles name. I want to own their house, their cars, and their corporate headquarters by midnight tomorrow. And then, we turn off the lights."
