Chapter 7 - The Stripping of the Crown

"You think you have power because of the Sterling name, Mother?" Caleb said, his voice dropping to a whisper that only Eleanor could hear. "Who do you think manages the Sterling offshore trusts? Who do you think designed the security infrastructure for every corporate asset we own? I let you play the queen because it kept you amused. But you touched my wife. You endangered my child."

Eleanor trembled, her breath coming in ragged gasps. For thirty years, she had viewed Caleb as a weak, compliant boy who inherited his father's quiet demeanor. She had never realized that his quietness wasn't weakness—it was the silence of a predator waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

"Caleb... please," Eleanor stammered, her voice cracking as her pride finally began to fail her. "We are blood. We are family. You wouldn't ruin your own mother over an accident."

"You are not my family," Caleb replied coldly. "Clara is my family. My children are my family."

He turned to the federal prosecutors standing behind him. "Execute the warrants."

The lead prosecutor stepped forward, pulling a document from his coat. "Eleanor Sterling, as of 6:00 PM tonight, a federal freeze has been placed on all domestic and international accounts bearing your name, pending a full investigation into corporate tax fraud, embezzlement, and medical coercion. Furthermore, a warrant has been issued for the immediate seizure of the Sterling estate as a primary crime scene."

"No..." Eleanor whispered, clutching her chest. "You can't do this. I have millions! I have influence!"

"You have nothing," Caleb said, turning his back on her as the doors to the operating room opened and a lead surgeon stepped out, wiping sweat from his brow.

Caleb bypassed his mother entirely, running toward the doctor, his terrifying composure breaking for the first time as fear for his wife took over. "Doctor! How is she? How are my wife and baby?"
