Chapter 10 - A Thread Made of Gold

One year later.
The grand opening of Lena Brooks Atelier took place on the top floor of the newly renovated Bellrose Plaza—a building Julian had purchased and renamed in honor of his wife.
The fashion show was a monumental success. Buyers from Paris, New York, and Milan cheered as models walked down the runway wearing Lena’s elegant, hand-stitched silk creations.
In the front row sat Eleanor Hale, wearing a beautiful cream-colored dress, smiling proudly alongside Julian.
After the show ended and the guests gathered for champagne, Lena walked out onto the balcony overlooking the Charlotte skyline.
Julian stepped up behind her, wrapping his warm arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"You were incredible tonight, Mrs. Hale," Julian murmured, kissing her cheek.
"We did it," Lena smiled, leaning back against his chest. "A real fashion house. No fake contracts, no corporate wars."
Julian reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, worn paper bag.
Lena looked at it, surprised. "What is this?"
She opened the bag. Inside was a fresh, warm turkey sandwich from a small local deli.
Lena laughed aloud, tears of pure happiness shining in her eyes. "Are you offering me dinner?"
"I'm reminding myself of the day my life actually began," Julian said softly, his dark eyes filled with endless love and devotion. "The day a beautiful, brave woman gave away her last meal to a stranger... and saved my entire world."

Lena turned in his arms, taking the sandwich, then wrapping her arms around his neck to kiss him under the starlit sky.
The debt was paid—not with silver, gold, or contracts—but with a love that would last a lifetime.
