Chapter 9 - The Battle at the Docks

The rain began to fall heavily at midnight over the industrial shipping yards of the South Dock.

Julian stood inside a massive concrete warehouse, surrounded by six of his most trusted men, including Gideon. Across from him stood Arthur Sterling, accompanied by ten heavily armed private security contractors.

"You should have taken the deal, Julian," Arthur sneered, leaning heavily on a brass-headed cane. "You took my daughter, you took my grandsons, and now you think you can rule this city?"

"Victoria left you because you treated her like property, Arthur," Julian said, his voice dropping into a dangerous, lethal register. "Just like you tried to treat the boys. But it ends tonight."

"It ends when I break your logistics network!" Arthur shouted, motioning to his men. "Shut down the cranes! Seize the cargo!"

Before Arthur's men could move, the heavy iron doors of the warehouse blew open with a deafening crash.

Four black tactical vehicles roared into the bay, their high-beam headlights blinding Arthur's men. Dozens of federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI poured out, weapons raised.

"Federal agents! Drop your weapons! Hands on your heads!"

Arthur’s face drained of all color. "What... what is this?!"

Marcus Hayes, Julian's lead attorney, stepped out from behind the lead federal vehicle, holding a thick stack of federal arrest warrants.

"Arthur Sterling," Marcus announced over a bullhorn. "You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, bribery of judicial officials, illegal wiretapping, and conspiracy to commit extortion."

Julian walked calmly toward his former father-in-law, looking down at the defeated old man.

"You thought I was just preparing for a family court trial, Arthur?" Julian said coldly. "While you were busy chasing photos of my kids at tea shops, my team was feeding twelve months of your illegal financial transactions to the Department of Justice."

Arthur’s cane fell from his trembling hands, clattering against the wet concrete floor as federal agents snapped cold steel handcuffs around his wrists.

"You monster..." Arthur whispered, his eyes wide with shock and hatred.

"I’m a father protecting his children," Julian replied softly, turning his back on Arthur as the agents dragged the billionaire away into the rain. "There’s a difference."
