Chapter 1 - The Revelation on the Asphalt

The triplets practically threw themselves at Emily’s knees, their tiny fingers gripping the fabric of her navy uniform as if clinging to a life raft in a stormy sea. Noah was sobbing so hard he could barely breathe, while Ethan and Liam shielded their faces against her coat.
"Miss Emily! Don't leave! She tried to hurt us! She said she would make us disappear!" Ethan shrieked, his voice cracking with pure terror.
Emily dropped her suitcase. The rattling sound died instantly, replaced by the frantic beating of her own heart. She fell to her knees on the hard asphalt, ignoring the sharp pain, and wrapped her yellow-gloved arms around the three boys. "Shh, I'm here. I'm right here. Who tried to hurt you? Why are you bleeding?"
Richard Hawthorne skidded to a halt a few feet away, his chest heaving, his expensive tailored suit disheveled. His face was a mask of sheer horror. He looked at the blood on his sons' arms, then at Emily, and finally at the mansion's gates in the distance.
"What... what is the meaning of this?" Richard stammered, his usual commanding voice reduced to a breathless whisper.
"It was Victoria!" Liam sobbed, lifting his tear-stained face. "When you went to the study, she locked us in the playroom. She said now that you were gone, she was going to send us to a place where daddy would never find us. We tried to climb out the window to catch you... the glass broke. She scratched us trying to pull us back, but we ran!"
Richard felt as if the ground had vanished beneath his feet. He looked at the jagged cuts on his sons' arms—not from an accident, but from a desperate escape.
Just then, Victoria hurried down the driveway, her high heels clicking sharply. "Richard, darling! Thank goodness you caught them! Those ungrateful brutes broke the antique window and ran like wild animals! And look, they ran straight to the thief. I told you she influenced them badly!"
Emily stood up, placing herself squarely between the children and the oncoming woman. The fear was gone, replaced by a cold, protective rage. "Stay away from them, Victoria."
"How dare you speak to me—"
"Shut up, Victoria," Richard interrupted. His voice wasn’t loud, but it possessed a deadly, freezing quality that made everyone freeze. He walked slowly toward his fiancée, his eyes fixed on her manicured hands. There, under her long nails, were traces of fresh blood.
He didn't need to hear anything else. The pieces of the puzzle fell into place with agonizing clarity. The missing Rolex, the sudden accusation, the haste to throw Emily out—it was all a calculated strike to isolate his children.
"Richard, you can't possibly believe—" Victoria began, her face turning pale.
"Security!" Richard roared into his collar-mic. Within seconds, two black SUVs tore down the street, stopping beside them. "Escort Miss Lane off my property immediately. Call the police. Report her for child endangerment and assault. And if she ever comes near my family again, I will personally ruin every single person who carries her last name."
As Victoria was dragged away screaming, her polished facade completely shattering, Richard turned back to Emily. The billionaire tech titan looked utterly defeated. He sank to his knees on the street, looking up at the housekeeper he had just humiliated.

"Emily... I..."
"We need to get them to a hospital, Mr. Hawthorne," Emily said coldly, her tone professional but completely detached. "Their cuts need to be cleaned."
