Chapter 9 - A New Horizon

As the afternoon sun dipped lower toward the horizon, casting long, golden shadows across the rolling lawns of the estate, Claire walked out onto the private stone patio overlooking the gardens.

She held a fresh cup of peppermint tea in her hands, inhaling the familiar, soothing aroma.

Her life was entirely unrecognizable from the woman who had sat frozen in the back of a sedan outside Harbor Point less than a year ago. She had lost a marriage built on lies, ambition, and betrayal. But in its place, she had reclaimed her heritage, her empire, and her absolute sovereignty.

More importantly, she had her son.

She looked down at the tiny gold chain resting around her neck—not the Moretti falcon over three waves, but an antique Bennett heirloom featuring an open compass set against a rising sun.

The past was buried. The corporate snakes had been swept from the house.

And as the spring wind rustled through the oak trees overhead, Claire Bennett took a deep, steady breath of the cool air, feeling the profound, unshakable peace of a woman who no longer needed anyone else to protect her.

She was the architect of her own destiny now. And the horizon stretched out before her, brighter and more limitless than it had ever been.
