Chapter 10 - Through the Front Door

One year after the rainy night Matteo made his brave phone call, the Whitfield estate hosted another event—not a corporate gala, nor a charity auction, but a wedding.

The grand lawn was decorated with thousands of white roses, orchids, and silk ribbons. Sunlight poured over the estate, casting a golden glow over the stone archways.

The entire staff—Thomas the gardener, the cooks, the housekeepers, and even Arthur Vance—sat in the front rows dressed in formal attire as honored family guests.

At the front of the altar stood Richard Whitfield in a bespoke charcoal tuxedo, looking radiantly handsome. Standing right beside him as his Best Man was five-year-old Matteo, wearing a miniature matching tuxedo, holding a velvet ring pillow with a proud, beaming smile.

Music began to play—a soft, beautiful acoustic melody.

The grand double doors of the mansion opened wide.

Maria Delgado walked out onto the stone terrace. She wore a breathtaking white lace wedding gown with a long, trailing veil that caught the gentle breeze. She looked like a queen.

She didn't walk through the side door. She didn't walk through the servants' entrance.

She walked out through the grand front entrance of the mansion, her head held high, stepping down the flower-covered aisle toward the man who loved her.

When she reached the altar, Richard took her hands, his eyes shining with profound love.

"Maria," Richard spoke his vows, his voice echoing with deep emotion. "A year ago, you left this house through a door reserved for servants, burdened by a lie. Today, you return through the front door as my equal, my savior, my best friend, and the love of my life."

"Richard," Maria answered, her voice soft yet strong. "You taught me that my past does not define my worth, and that true love sees through every wall. I give you my heart, my home, and my forever."

The minister smiled warmly. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Richard, you may kiss your bride."

Richard wrapped his arms around Maria, pulling her close, kissing her passionately as the entire crowd erupted into wild cheers and applause.

Little Matteo jumped up and down, holding his red toy car in one hand and hugging his new father’s leg with the other.

As the sun began to set over the Greenwich hills, painting the sky in glorious shades of pink, gold, and purple, Maria looked back at the grand glass palace.

The side door was closed forever.

The front doors stood wide open, warm, bright, and welcoming—a home filled with love, laughter, and a family that would never be broken again.
