Chapter 5 - THE FALCONE STRIKE

By sunrise, news of Dr. Vance’s arrest and the seizure of his records had reached Don Salvatore Falcone.

The Falcone family estate in North Shore was in chaos. Salvatore Falcone—an aging, ruthless mafia boss who had ruled the city's underworld for thirty years—sat in his leather study, smashing a glass against the fireplace.

"He took the children?" Falcone roared at his capos. "Damian took my daughter's children from a diner?"

"Sir," his chief advisor whispered nervously. "The waitress... she wasn't just a random woman. She was the biological mother. Vance forged the records fourteen months ago. The FBI is already executing warrants on St. Jude Memorial."

Falcone's face twisted into a vicious scowl. "I don't care about Vance or the hospital! Those triplets are the only blood connection I have left to the Marchetti empire! If Damian realizes those kids aren't Gina's, he will sever our territorial treaty and wipe us out!"

"What are your orders, Don Salvatore?"

"Gather the men," Falcone commanded, his eyes gleaming with dark malice. "Damian won't expose this publicly to avoid a full-scale mafia war. We strike the Marchetti estate tonight, retrieve the children, and eliminate the waitress."

Meanwhile, back at the Marchetti mansion, Maya sat in the nursery, watching Mateo, Leo, and Sienna play with wooden blocks.

For the first time in over a year, she felt a profound sense of peace. She had spent the morning feeding them, bathing them, and listening to their bright, innocent laughter echoing through the sunlit room.

Damian entered the nursery, carrying a stack of legal documents.

"What are those?" Maya asked, looking up.

"Full legal adoption and guardianship restoration papers," Damian explained, setting them on the table. "My attorneys have filed an emergency petition with the state court to annul Gina’s fraudulent motherhood record and restore your full parental rights."

Maya looked at him, her heart swelling with gratitude. "Damian... you don't have to do all this. You thought they were your children for fourteen months. You loved them."

Damian walked over, sitting on the edge of the play-mat beside her. Leo immediately crawled onto Damian's lap, grabbing his gold watch strap. Damian's expression softened instantly as he gently patted the boy's head.

"I raised them," Damian admitted softly, looking into Maya's hazel eyes. "I loved them from the moment I held them. But they belong to you, Maya. And protecting you and them is the only thing that matters to me now."

Before Maya could respond, the mansion's emergency alarm blared through the speakers, red lights flashing across the corridors.

Marco burst into the nursery, his gun drawn.

"Boss!" Marco shouted. "Falcone's men just rammed the front security gates! They're pushing through the gardens!"
