Chapter 6 - SIEGE AT THE MANSION

The sounds of heavy gunfire echoed through the bluffs as Falcone's assault team pushed past the outer perimeter of the estate.
Damian didn't flinch. He immediately stepped in front of Maya and the children, drawing a heavy black firearm from his shoulder holster.
"Marco, get Maya and the triplets down to the sub-level safe room now!" Damian ordered smoothly.
"No!" Maya cried out, grabbing Damian's arm. "Don't go out there alone!"
Damian looked into her eyes, holding her cheek in his warm, steady palm. "This is my house, Maya. Nobody touches my family. Go with Marco."
Maya hesitated, but looking at her frightened toddlers, she nodded. She gathered Sienna and Mateo into her arms while Marco took Leo, rushing down a hidden spiral staircase behind a bookshelf in the library.
The sub-level safe room was a reinforced concrete bunker equipped with independent air filtration, surveillance monitors, and steel blast doors.
Maya sat on the leather couch inside the bunker, holding all three children close as she watched the security monitors on the wall.
On the screens, Damian moved with terrifying, lethal precision. Flanked by his elite guards, he intercepted Falcone's men in the grand foyer, suppressing the intrusion within minutes through sheer tactical dominance.
However, on the courtyard camera feed, Maya noticed something that made her blood run cold.
Three Falcone mercenaries had bypassed the main hall, crawling through the basement ventilation shafts toward the safe room corridor. They carried heavy explosive breaching charges.
"They know where the bunker is," Maya realized, her heart hammering against her ribs.
In the hallway outside the safe room, the sound of heavy boots echoed against the concrete floor.
Clang. Clang.
The mercenaries were placing breaching charges directly against the steel blast door hinges.
Maya looked around the safe room. There were no weapons, only a heavy steel fire extinguisher resting in a wall cabinet near the entrance.
She set the toddlers behind a reinforced steel desk in the corner.
"Stay here," Maya whispered to them, her voice calm and absolute. "Mama will protect you."
The blast door lock hissed as the charges detonated, sending smoke pouring into the room. The heavy steel door swung inward.
The first mercenary stepped through the smoke, raising his rifle.
Before he could clear the threshold, Maya swung the heavy steel fire extinguisher with every ounce of strength in her body, striking the man square across the helmet.
The man collapsed backward into his partner. Maya immediately slammed the internal manual override lever, triggering the secondary emergency steel gate that dropped from the ceiling, trapping the mercenaries in the outer hallway just as Damian and Marco arrived from the stairs above.
Gunfire crackled in the hallway, followed by silence.
A moment later, the steel gate lifted, and Damian stepped through the smoke, his coat torn, his face marked with soot, but his eyes wide with frantic worry.
"Maya!" Damian called out, rushing into the room.
Maya stood holding the dented fire extinguisher, her hair wild, her eyes blazing with fierce adrenaline.
Damian stopped, looking at the unconscious mercenary on the floor, then at Maya, and finally at the children who were safe and unharmed behind the desk.
Damian released a long breath, stepping forward and pulling Maya into a tight, fierce embrace.

"You're incredible," Damian breathed against her hair.
Maya closed her eyes, resting her head against his chest, listening to his strong, steady heartbeat. "I told you... nobody takes my babies again."
