Chapter 9 - THE UNBROKEN BOND

Six months later.

The autumn air was crisp and sweet, leaves painting the Marchetti grounds in brilliant shades of gold, orange, and crimson.

Inside the mansion's grand ballroom, a private celebration was underway.

The room was decorated with warm fairy lights, fresh flowers, and tables laden with delicious food. Maya’s close friends, the estate staff, and trusted allies gathered to celebrate the official second birthday of Mateo, Leo, and Sienna.

The triplets ran through the hall in matching tiny outfits, chasing balloons and giggling as Marco pretend-chased them across the floor.

Maya stood near the cake table, wearing a breathtaking dark-green dress that highlighted her radiant hazel eyes.

Damian walked up behind her, gently wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.

"They look happy," Damian murmured softly.

"They are happy," Maya smiled, leaning back against his chest. "Because they have a real family."

Sienna ran up to them, holding a small wooden bunny toy—the same toy she had dropped in the diner months ago. She reached up with both hands, tugging at Damian's trousers.

"Papa! Look!" Sienna giggled brightly.

Damian froze. His heart slammed against his chest as he looked down at the little girl.

It was the first time any of the triplets had called him 'Papa'.

Damian dropped to one knee instantly, his eyes shining with rare, overwhelming emotion. He picked Sienna up into his arms, holding her close.

"Show me, sweetheart," Damian whispered, his voice thick with feeling as Sienna showed him the toy.

Maya stood beside them, her heart overflowing with love. She realized then that the bond between Damian and her children wasn't built on blood or legal paperwork; it was built on shared protection, devotion, and unconditional love.

Damian stood up, holding Sienna with one arm, while reaching into his jacket pocket with his free hand.

He turned to face Maya, his dark eyes filled with absolute sincerity.

He didn't drop to one knee—he stood before her as an equal, opening a small velvet box to reveal a stunning, brilliant-cut diamond ring framed by tiny hazel sapphires.

"Maya," Damian said softly, his voice echoing with profound warmth. "Fourteen months ago, you brought life back into this house. You showed me what it means to fight for the people you love. I don't just want to share a home with you—I want to share the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"

The room went completely quiet as everyone turned to look at them.

Mateo and Leo ran over, grabbing Maya's dress on either side, looking up at her with big, expectant hazel eyes.

Maya wiped a tear from her cheek, a radiant, unstoppable smile breaking across her face.

May you like

"Yes," Maya said clearly and joyfully. "Yes, Damian. Absolutely yes."

Damian slipped the ring onto her finger, pulling her into a passionate, loving kiss as the entire room erupted into happy cheers and applause.
