Chapter 19 - The Sovereign’s Reckoning

Six months later.
Milan Fashion Week had arrived, and the global fashion industry turned its eyes toward the iconic Duomo di Milano, where Maison de Romano was presenting its most anticipated show in history: "Sovereign."
The runway was designed like an ancient Italian courtyard, framed by dark stone arches that gradually transitioned into glorious golden lighting.
Behind the scenes, the energy was electric. Models in magnificent silk gowns moved in synchronized precision, dressmakers made final adjustments, and music thundered through the auditorium.
Sophia stood backstage, wearing a breathtaking gown of pure white silk, embroidered with intricate golden thread that mirrored the pattern of a phoenix rising. She watched the monitors as her final model walked off the runway to a deafening roar of applause from the audience.
"And now," the announcer’s voice boomed through the speakers, "the creative genius and Sovereign Queen of Maison de Romano—Sophia Romano-Sterling!"
The heavy velvet curtains parted. Sophia stepped onto the lit runway.
Thousands of flashes from camera lenses blinded the stage, but Sophia walked with the effortless, breathtaking composure that had made her a global icon. She didn't just walk; she commanded the space.
In the front row, Julian stood up, clapping proudly, his eyes fixed on his wife with unmatched devotion. Beside him, Don Vincenzo held little Bella on his lap, the young girl clapping her tiny hands wildly, pointing at her mother with pride.
Sophia reached the end of the runway. She didn't bow. She simply looked out over the crowd, raised her chin, and offered a soft, brilliant smile.

In that moment, every shadow of her past was permanently eclipsed by her glory. She was no longer defined by the night she was locked in the dark. She was the light that shattered it.
