Chapter 20 - Eternal Dawn
One year later.
Lake Como shimmered under a warm, golden sunset, looking as tranquil and magnificent as it had on the night the final struggle began.
The private terrace of the Romano Estate was once again adorned for a grand celebration. White silk curtains fluttered softly in the evening breeze, carrying the rich scent of blooming jasmine and lemon trees across the water. A long dining table was set with fine china, crystal flutes, and fresh red roses.
Around the table gathered the entire Romano and Sterling family, alongside their most loyal friends.
Don Vincenzo sat at the head of the table, looking healthier and happier than ever, watching Bella teach her new baby brother—born just two months ago—how to pat the golden retriever resting beside the fountain.
Julian sat beside Sophia, his arm wrapped comfortably around her waist. He leaned down, whispering a joke that made her laugh softly, her cheeks dimpling under the warm light of the Italian sky.
Sophia stood up from the table, holding a crystal glass of sparkling champagne. She wore an exquisite, custom champagne-colored silk dress that flowed like liquid gold around her tall, graceful frame.
She walked to the edge of the stone balustrade, looking out over the calm blue waters of the lake. The faint scar on her leg was visible, glowing softly in the twilight—a silent monument to the day she had reclaimed her destiny.
Julian walked up behind her, sliding his arms around her waist, resting his chin gently on her shoulder.
"What are you thinking about, my queen?" Julian murmured softly into her ear.
Sophia smiled, placing her hands over his. "I was thinking that ten years ago, I thought my story ended in a cold, dark room."
Julian kissed her cheek softly. "And now?"
Sophia turned in his arms, looking into his deep, loving eyes, then glancing back at her father, her children, and the life they had fought so hard to defend.
"Now I know that the dark was just where my story began," Sophia said, her voice rich with absolute peace and victory. "We built an empire out of love, Julian. And it will last forever."
Vincenzo raised his glass high from the table, his voice echoing with profound pride. "To Sophia! To the family! To eternity!"
"To eternity!" everyone cheered, their crystal glasses clinking into the warm evening air.
