Chapter 1 - The Evidence Unveiled

The heavy oak door of the luxury suite slammed open as Dr. Arthur Vance marched into the room, flanked by two armed hospital security officers and a trauma care team. He took in the scene in a split second: his niece Khloe curled on the cold marble floor, Marcus frozen in rage, and Isabella Rossi trembling with fake, tearful innocence.
"Dr. Vance!" Isabella cried out, her voice quivering with rehearsed panic. "Thank goodness you're here! Khloe completely lost control! She attacked me—she threw a glass, she dragged me down—I was only trying to protect myself!"
Arthur Vance didn't even look at her. He bypassed her completely and dropped to his knees beside Khloe, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder while motioning the trauma nurses forward with an oxygen mask and a portable monitoring unit.
"Khloe, can you hear me?" Arthur asked softly, his professional composure slipping just enough to show deep familial concern. "I'm here, sweetheart. Uncle Arthur is right here."
Khloe let out a ragged, shallow breath, her fingers clutching his white coat. "The baby... Arthur, please... the baby..."
"We're going to take care of both of you," Arthur said firmly. He turned his head toward Marcus. "Marcus, help the team transfer her to the gurney. Gently."
Marcus, stepping out of his shock, rushed forward. His face was pale, his eyes dark with an unholy rage, but his hands were exceptionally soft as he lifted Khloe with the nurses onto the gurney. As they began wheeling her toward the private surgical elevator, Isabella stepped into their path, wringing her hands.
"Marcus, please, you have to listen to me!" Isabella pleaded, tears streaming down her contoured cheeks. "You can't let her frame me! She's unstable!"
"Move, Isabella," Marcus said, his voice dropping into a register so dangerously low it chilled the air in the corridor.
"I won't let you ruin our families' relationship over her lie!" Isabella demanded, stepping closer. "She orchestrated this whole thing to push me out of your life!"
Arthur Vance pulled a sleek, military-grade tablet from his coat pocket and tapped the screen twice. A high-definition video instantly began playing on the wall-mounted display of the suite, mirrored from the private wing's cloud server.
The room fell dead silent.
The video, shot from the ceiling’s concealed 4K camera, was crystal clear. It caught every second. It showed Khloe standing motionless, exhausted. It showed Isabella charging forward, shoving Khloe into the sharp edge of the marble table. It caught the shatter of the champagne glass. And most horrifyingly, it captured Isabella stepping over Khloe and driving her sharp stiletto heel violently into the side of Khloe's seven-month pregnant abdomen, followed by her icy words: "You were supposed to know your place."
Isabella’s breath hitched. The color drained entirely from her face, leaving her as pale as the marble floor beneath her. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out.
"This feed has already been uploaded to the NYPD Major Crimes database, the hospital's legal board, and my personal server," Arthur Vance said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "You didn't just assault a patient in my facility, Ms. Rossi. You attempted murder on my family."
He looked at the security team. "Restrain her. The police are downstairs."

"No! Wait! Marcus, help me!" Isabella screamed as the guards gripped her arms, cuffing her wrists behind her back. "It’s not what it looks like! She provoked me!"
Marcus didn't turn back. He walked alongside Khloe's gurney as it rushed into the elevator, his eyes fixed entirely on his wife. "You're going to pay for every drop of blood she lost tonight, Isabella. I promise you."
