Chapter 9 - Heart to Heart

Six months passed. Under Leah’s leadership, the Thomas Hayes Foundation transformed thousands of lives across the state, building community centers and funding scholarships for under-privileged youth.

One quiet evening, Nathan invited Leah to the rooftop garden of the Sinclair tower, overlooking the glowing skyline of Manhattan.

A soft breeze blew through the garden as they walked together along the flower-lined path.

"You've built something truly incredible, Leah," Nathan said softly, stopping near the edge of the terrace.

"I couldn't have done it without you and your mother, Nathan," Leah replied, looking up at him. "You gave me a chance when everyone else treated me like a criminal."

Nathan took both of her hands in his, his gaze warm and earnest.

"Leah, the night you stood up to Vanessa in that ballroom, I didn't just see a brave woman protecting my mother. I saw the most incredible, beautiful soul I had ever met."

Leah’s heart fluttered as Nathan reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.

"My grandfather gave this ring to my grandmother when they had nothing," Nathan whispered, opening the box to reveal a timeless sapphire ring. "Leah Hayes, will you do me the honor of sharing your life, your heart, and your future with me?"

Tears of pure joy welled in Leah’s eyes. She looked into the eyes of the man who had stood by her through every storm.

"Yes, Nathan," she whispered, a radiant smile breaking across her face. "Yes, a thousand times yes!"

He slipped the ring onto her finger and pulled her into a warm, tender embrace as the city lights shimmered beneath them like a sea of stars.
