Chapter 10 - A New Horizon

Spring returned to New York, bringing with it bright sunshine, warm breezes, and the sweet scent of blooming flowers.

In the botanical gardens overlooking the ocean, white rose petals covered the grassy aisle. Friends, family, and loyal colleagues gathered under a grand white canopy to celebrate the wedding of Andrew Callahan and Amy Parker.

Chloe, wearing an adorable white lace dress with a crown of pink cherry blossoms in her hair, walked down the aisle as the flower girl, tossing handfuls of rose petals with a wide, glowing smile.

When Amy walked down the aisle, holding a bouquet of white lilies, Andrew felt his heart skip a beat—just as it had seven years ago when he first laid eyes on her. But this time, there were no secrets, no fears, and no threats keeping them apart.

They exchanged their vows beneath the clear blue sky, pledging their lives, their hearts, and their future to one another.

"I pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant declared. "You may kiss the bride."

Andrew pulled Amy into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her, sending a wave of cheers and applause echoing through the gathered crowd.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, lighting up the sky in shades of gold, purple, and soft pink, Chloe ran up to her parents, tugging gently on Amy's dress.

"Mommy! Daddy! Look!" Chloe squealed happily, holding up a brand-new, crisp Polaroid photograph that had just printed from her tiny camera.

Andrew and Amy bent down together to look at the picture. It showed the three of them—Andrew with his arms wrapped tightly around Amy, and Chloe standing between them, all three laughing brightly under the cherry blossom trees.

Andrew smiled softly. He reached into his jacket, pulled out his worn leather wallet, and gently placed the new photograph into the front plastic sleeve, right next to the old, faded one from seven years ago.

He closed the wallet, slipped it securely into his heart pocket, and took his wife's and daughter's hands in his as they walked forward into their bright, endless future together.
