Chapter 9 - Healing Old Wounds

With Richard Callahan behind bars and the corporate scandal resolved, public opinion shifted dramatically. The stock of Callahan Global rebounded to an all-time high, praised by the media as a story of justice and true love prevailing over corporate corruption.
However, Andrew didn't care about the stock market anymore. He handed over the day-to-day operations of the company to his trusted executive team, taking a long-term leave of absence to focus entirely on his family.
Two months later, Andrew purchased a beautiful beachfront estate in the quiet coastal town of Montauk, far away from the noise and pressure of Manhattan.
The sun was setting over the Atlantic Ocean, casting a warm golden light across the sandy shore. Chloe was running along the edge of the water, laughing as the small waves washed over her bare feet, chased playfully by a golden retriever puppy Andrew had gotten her for her birthday.
Andrew stood on the wooden deck overlooking the ocean, two glasses of wine in hand. Amy walked up beside him, leaning her head against his broad shoulder as she watched their daughter play.
"It feels like a dream," Amy murmured softly. "After so many years of waking up terrified of how I was going to pay the rent or buy groceries... I keep thinking I'm going to wake up back in that small apartment."
Andrew set the glasses down on the deck table. He turned to face her, taking her hands in his.
"It’s not a dream, Amy," he said gently, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small velvet box.
He knelt down on one knee on the wooden deck, looking up at her with eyes full of deep, unwavering love.
"Seven years ago, I lost you because I wasn't strong enough to protect you from the snakes around me," Andrew said, his voice trembling with emotion. "I spent every day wishing I could undo the past. But today, I want to build our future. Amy Parker, will you marry me and make me the happiest man alive?"

Tears of joy spilled down Amy's cheeks. She didn't hesitate for a single second.
"Yes," she whispered, leaning down to kiss him deeply as the golden rays of the sunset enveloped them. "Yes, Andrew. A thousand times yes."
