Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Life

The sun was setting gently over the rolling hills of Sterling Manor. The last of the gala caterers had packed up, and the grounds were peaceful once more.
I walked through the garden path, holding Noah’s hand as he chattered happily about his day at pre-school. The air was warm, carrying the sweet scent of blooming jasmine.
I stopped near the grand gates—the very gates I had driven through on that fateful night, with Margaret screaming behind me and Daniel shouting my name in rage.
I looked down at Noah. He looked up at me, his bright eyes shining with total trust and unconditional love.
"Mommy?" he asked, tilting his head. "Are we going anywhere?"
I knelt down, brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead, and smiled from the very depths of my heart.
"No, sweetheart," I said, my voice rich with peace and absolute certainty. "We are right where we belong. We are home."

I stood up, holding my son close to my heart, and looked back at the grand manor glowing warmly under the twilight sky. I had lost a husband who never truly valued me, but I had reclaimed my name, my freedom, my power, and my life.
The crown was never Daniel's to give. It was always mine to wear.
