I decided that to truly move forward, I had to confront the fear that had kept me trapped for so long. I went back to Denver to visit the gravesite of my parents, who had passed away shortly before I met Julian.
I had always felt like I failed them by becoming the kind of woman who was controlled by a man like Julian. Standing there, the wind whipping through the trees, I felt a release.
