Chapter 7 - Laying the Trap

At 2:00 PM, the grand press hall of Miller Logistics was packed to capacity. Over fifty reporters, camera crews, and photojournalists were crammed into the room, creating an atmosphere thick with noise and flashing cameras.
I walked out onto the podium dressed in a dark suit. Beside me walked Sarah, elegant in a simple cream-colored dress, her chin held high despite the blinding flashes of light.
A chorus of shouted questions erupted instantly.
"Mr. Miller! Is your mother telling the truth?!"
"Mrs. Miller, are you being held against your will?!"
I raised my hand, and the room gradually fell silent.
"Thank you all for coming," I said into the microphone, my voice clear and resonating across the auditorium. "Earlier today, my mother, Evelyn Miller, and my brother, Tyler Miller, held an interview claiming that my wife, Sarah, is mentally unstable, and that I have framed them to hide illegal corporate activities."
I paused, looking directly into the main television camera lenses.
"Today, we are not offering opinions or emotional pleas. We are offering cold, hard, indisputable evidence."
I gestured to the giant LED screens behind the podium.
"This," I pointed as a document appeared on the screen, "is the certified medical toxicity report from St. Jude Medical Center, showing that my wife was systematically poisoned with long-term doses of arsenic while living in my home."
Gasps echoed through the room. Camera shutters clicked frantically.
"This," I continued, switching the screen to high-resolution security footage, "is video footage taken from the patio cameras of my home last Thursday midnight. As you can see, while my family dined inside, my wife was forced into the freezing rain and made to eat off the muddy ground under threat of physical violence."
The broadcast of the video sent shockwaves through the audience. Reporters were openly whispering in disbelief as the disturbing imagery played out on screen.
Then, Sarah stepped forward to the microphone.
"My name is Sarah Miller," her voice carried a clear, unshakable strength that silenced every person in the room. "For two years, I was systematically abused, poisoned, and psychologically tortured by Evelyn and Tyler Miller. They used forged medical documents to convince me I was ill, and forged power-of-attorney forms to steal millions from my husband’s estate."
She looked straight into the camera, addressing Evelyn directly.
"You tried to erase me," Sarah said, her voice ringing with absolute authority. "You tried to break me into nothing. But I survived. And now, the truth is out."

As the room erupted into chaos with reporters clamoring to ask questions, Marcus Vance stepped to the podium with a cold smirk.
"Furthermore," Marcus announced, "we have filed a civil lawsuit seeking fifty million dollars in damages against Evelyn, Tyler, and Chloe Miller, alongside formal criminal charges filed with the Cook County District Attorney’s office. Warrants for their immediate rearrest without bail have just been executed."
