Chapter 8 - The Grandmother’s Sanctuary

While the legal storm raged across the upper class, Daniel focused entirely on repairing the damage his arrogance had caused. He discovered that Lily lived in a crumbling tenement building in the industrial district, caring for her grandmother, Rose, who was suffering from chronic respiratory failure due to the toxic mold in their apartment.

That afternoon, a fleet of luxury black SUVs pulled up to the tenement. Daniel stepped out, accompanied by a team of private medical transport professionals.

"Mrs. Rose," Daniel said, kneeling beside the elderly woman's rickety bed while Lily watched from the doorway. "Your granddaughter is an angel. She saved my son's life, and in doing so, she saved mine. You will never have to worry about rent, medicine, or survival ever again."

Within three hours, Rose was moved into a state-of-the-art private suite at Brookstone Medical Center, receiving the best pulmonary care money could buy. Lily’s street-vending days were officially over. The wooden box of marzipan was placed on a shelf in Daniel’s private study—not as a symbol of poverty, but as a monument to pure courage.
