Chapter 6 - The Shadow Falls
That night, the federal jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict against Dominic Moretti on twenty-four counts of RICO racketeering, extortion, and smuggling.
As federal marshals led Moretti away in handcuffs, the old boss stopped beside the gallery railing, looking directly at Adrian.
"You think you won, Vale?" Moretti sneered, his voice dripping with venom. "You burned down my entire family for a common office clerk."
Adrian stood up slowly, towering over the aging mobster.
"She isn't an office clerk, Moretti," Adrian said, his voice ringing through the quiet courtroom. "She’s the woman who just dismantled your entire empire. Remember that while you spend the rest of your life in a maximum-security cell."
Moretti was dragged out through the heavy doors, screaming curses that echoed down the marble hallway.
Evelyn stood in the center of the courtroom, feeling an overwhelming wave of exhaustion and relief wash over her. The nightmare that had plagued her for months was finally over.
Adrian walked over to her, removing his gloves.

"It's finished, Evelyn," he said softly. "Grant Mercer is going to prison for fifteen years. Moretti will never see daylight again."
Evelyn looked up at him, tears sparkling in her eyes. "Thank you, Adrian. For everything."
