With the criminal trials concluded and Vale Meridian Holdings fully restructured, Lakeside Freight was completely cleansed of its corrupt legacy.
Adrian appointed Evelyn as the new Vice President of Logistics and Ethics for the entire Midwest division—a position that came with a six-figure salary, full corporate authority, and an independent board seat.
On her first day in her new corner office on the thirty-fifth floor, Evelyn walked up to the vast glass window overlooking Chicago.
There were no locked doors, no terrifying whispers, and no threats hanging over her head.
A knock sounded at her door.
Adrian walked in, carrying a small, ribbon-wrapped box.
"A housewarming gift for your new office," he said, setting it on her mahogany desk.
Evelyn opened the box. Inside was a beautiful, handcrafted glass paperweight holding a preserved golden rose, along with a sleek silver key.

"It's the master key to the building," Adrian smiled faintly. "Including the executive suite. So you never have to feel locked in or helpless ever again."
