Chapter 3 - The Siege of the Estate

Before Dominic could respond, the estate’s perimeter alarms shrieked through the house.
Red emergency lights flashed along the concrete corridors. Gunfire echoed from the front gate—heavy, automatic rounds rattling against the reinforced stone pillars.
Dominic drew his custom Kimber .45, kicking Frank’s chair over and securing him to the wall pipe with heavy steel cuffs. "You stay here. If my daughter gets a single scratch, I’m coming back down to personally end you."
Dominic sprinted up the stairs into the main foyer.
Nathan Briggs was already coordinating security. "Boss! Three black SUVs just rammed through the south gate! At least twelve heavily armed hitmen are advancing across the lawn!"
"Get Emily and Lucy to the panic room!" Dominic ordered. "Where is Sophie?"
"She’s already in the safe vault with two guards," Nathan called back over the sound of breaking glass.
Down in the kitchen, Emily Price was cowering behind a stainless steel prep station, clutching three-year-old Lucy in her arms. The child was crying silently, her small face buried in her mother’s chest.
Dominic slid into the kitchen, using the marble island for cover as bullets shattered the high stained-glass windows above.
"Emily! Over here!" Dominic shouted, laying down suppressive fire toward the rear patio doors.
He reached Emily, grabbing her arm and pulling her and Lucy toward the concealed elevator hidden behind the pantry.

"Mr. Caruso!" Emily sobbed, terrified. "Who are these people?!"
"People who made a very fatal mistake," Dominic said coldly. He pushed the floor button for the subterranean bunker, stepping inside with them. "You and Lucy saved my life tonight. I am not letting anything happen to you."
