Chapter 5 - Cleaning the House

Above ground, the battle for the Caruso estate ended with brutal efficiency.
Dominic’s elite tactical team, trained by former special forces operatives, overwhelmed the Moretti hitmen in the courtyard. Within forty-five minutes, seven attackers were detained, and the remaining fled back toward the highway, where state police units—alerted by Dominic’s political allies—were waiting to intercept them.
By 4:00 AM, the estate was secure.
Dominic walked out onto the stone terrace, where Nathan Briggs stood surrounded by confiscated weapons and encrypted tactical radios.
"New York thought you were dead when the bomb was supposed to detonate at 8:00 PM," Nathan explained, handing Dominic a military tablet. "When they realized the device had failed, Don Vincent Moretti ordered an immediate hit squad to finish the job before you could retaliate."
"Where is Vincent Moretti right now?" Dominic asked, his eyes gleaming with lethal intent.
"He’s at his penthouse estate in Manhattan, waiting for a phone call that’s never coming," Nathan replied.

Dominic looked back toward the basement stairs where Frank Valenti was still cuffed.
"Bring Frank up," Dominic ordered. "And get my legal team on the line."
