Chapter 10 - The Dawn of a New Empire

A year later, the bells of the ancient cathedral in the heart of the city rang out, their deep, resonant tones echoing across the crowded plaza.

Thousands of citizens had gathered outside, held back by a respectful line of security. To the people of the city, Leo Moretti was no longer just a feared shadow in the dark; he had become a philanthropist, a protector who had funded schools, rebuilt neighborhoods, and brought an unprecedented era of peace and stability to the region. And everyone knew the source of this change was the woman he was marrying today.

Inside the cathedral, the light filtered through the stained-glass windows, casting vibrant pools of ruby, sapphire, and gold across the marble aisle.

Bella stood at the entrance, taking a deep breath. She looked breathtaking in a simple, elegant gown of white silk, her hair styled in soft waves with a few wild white roses woven into the braid. She carried a small bouquet of orange blossoms—a quiet, beautiful nod to the day they first met in the rain.

Beside her, Mr. Bianchi stood proudly, offering his arm. "Ready, mia bella?"

"More than ready," she whispered, her heart full.

As the heavy oak doors opened, the crowd inside rose. Bella walked down the aisle, her eyes locked instantly on Leo.

He stood at the altar, looking incredibly handsome in a tailored black tuxedo. The hard, calculating look that usually defined his face had completely melted away, replaced by a expression of pure, unadulterated devotion.

When Mr. Bianchi placed her hand in Leo’s, Leo squeezed it gently, his eyes shining with a warmth that could melt glaciers.

The ceremony was beautiful, a blur of ancient vows and shared promises. But it was the look in their eyes as they exchanged rings that held the true weight of their journey. They had survived the storms of poverty, the violence of the mafia, and the ghosts of the past.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the priest declared. "You may kiss the bride."

Leo didn't hesitate. He pulled Bella close, his hand resting on her waist as he kissed her with all the passion, relief, and eternal love that had built their fortress. The cathedral erupted into deafening applause, led by a crying Francesca and a beaming Marco.

As they walked out of the cathedral hand-in-hand, stepping into the brilliant, warm afternoon sun, Bella looked up at the clear blue sky.

There were no more storm clouds on her horizon. Her hand was firmly held by the man who had torn down the world to protect her, and together, they stepped forward into a beautiful, endless dawn.
