Chapter 10 - Sunshine After the Storm

One year later.

The sun was setting over the Pacific Ocean, painting the sky in brilliant hues of lavender, rose, and gold.

At the Thorne seaside estate, the gentle rustle of palm trees and the rhythmic crashing of waves against the cliffs created a peaceful melody. On the sprawling green lawn overlooking the ocean, little Victoria, now two years old, was happily chasing a golden retriever puppy across the grass, her innocent laughter filling the warm evening air.

Marcus sat on a plush outdoor sofa on the patio, wearing a relaxed linen shirt, watching his daughter with a warm, contented smile. In his hand, he held a cup of coffee.

The glass doors opened, and Khloe stepped out onto the patio. She looked radiant, her dark hair blowing gently in the sea breeze. She walked over to Marcus, sliding onto his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"She’s getting so fast," Khloe laughed, watching Victoria trip over her own little feet and giggle as the puppy licked her face.

"She gets that determination from her mother," Marcus murmured, pulling Khloe close and resting his chin on her shoulder.

They sat in comfortable silence for a long time, watching the sun dip below the horizon. The ghosts of the past were completely gone. The trauma of the attack, the cold hospital room, the legal battles, and the threats had all faded into distant memories, replaced by the warmth of the life they had fought so hard to build.

"Are you happy, Khloe?" Marcus asked softly, kissing the side of her neck.

Khloe turned her head to look into his dark, loving eyes—the eyes that had guarded her through the dark night and led her into the light.

"I have everything I ever dreamed of, Marcus," Khloe answered softly, touching his cheek with her soft palm. "We survived the dark. And we built something beautiful."

Marcus smiled, leaning in to press his lips against hers in a long, tender kiss filled with a lifetime of promises kept.

Out on the lawn, little Victoria laughed as the puppy sat beside her, both of them looking up at the golden sunset. The Thorne family was whole, safe, and unshakeable—a sanctuary built on love, protected by strength, and destined for a lifetime of peace.
