Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

I looked down at our joined hands, then across the room at the bright, laughing little girl who had brought us together through a miracle in a crowded restaurant. The fear, the dark secrets, and the violence of the past were finally over. What remained was something strong, real, and unbreakable.
"I'm not going anywhere, Damian," I smiled, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to his lips. "We spent two years living in the dark. It's time we build a real family in the light."
Damian pulled me close, his grip strong and protective, as Leah ran over and scrambled up onto the bed between us, wrapping her tiny arms around both of our necks. The silent years were over; our story was just beginning, and for the very first time, all of us were finally home.
