Chapter 7 - The Confrontation

We fled to the high-rise glass penthouse overlooking the city's financial district, where Victor had gathered the remaining syndicate heads to orchestrate a vote to strip Damian of his leadership. Damian walked into the grand boardroom unannounced, his shirt stained with blood, his presence commanding the vast room instantly. I walked right beside him, holding Leah securely in my arms.
"You're too late, Damian!" Victor laughed, gesturing to the signed documents on the conference table. "The council has voted. You are ousted. And that child belongs to the state!" Damian didn't argue. Instead, he signaled Julian, who projected a massive dossier onto the boardroom screens. It contained two years of bank transfers, offshore medical bribes, and recorded audio files of Victor explicitly ordering the kidnapping of my infant daughter in Zurich. The room devolved into uproar as the syndicate elders realized Victor had compromised the entire organization for personal greed.
