Chapter 12 - Echoes of the Syndicate

The investigation into the security breach led Dominic back into the dark underbelly of Manhattan—a world he had promised Claire he would leave behind. He discovered that a new faction was rising from the ashes of the old syndicates, calling themselves The Obsidian Ring. They were ruthless, young, and entirely unburdened by the old codes of honor.
Dominic met Silas in a dimly lit warehouse by the Brooklyn docks. On the table lay decrypted files recovered from a dead drop. "The Ring is being funded by an anonymous offshore account," Silas reported, his face grim. "But the operational signatures match someone we know. Valentin Borzov."
Borzov. The name made Dominic’s blood run cold. Valentin was the brother of a Russian bratva boss Dominic had eliminated three years ago. Valentin had been presumed dead in a prison riot in Siberia, but rumors suggested he had escaped and spent years rebuilding his network, driven by a singular, burning desire for vengeance against the Rossi name.
"He’s not just looking for a turf war," Dominic said, staring at the blueprints of his Hudson Valley estate on Silas's laptop. "He wants to take everything from me. My wealth, my legacy, my wife, my children. He wants me to watch it burn."
Meanwhile, back at the estate, Claire was dealing with her own fears. She refused to be a helpless damsel. She began working with the estate's cyber-security team, utilizing her own background in data analysis to trace the origin of the music box audio file. What she discovered was horrifying: the audio had been recorded from a device hidden inside Harper's bedroom teddy bear.

Spurred by a mother's fierce instinct, Claire searched the room and found the microscopic bug. She realized that the enemy had compromised their innermost sanctuary. She called Dominic, her voice trembling but resolute. "Dom, they’re inside the house. We aren't safe here."
Before Dominic could race back, a sudden explosion rocked the perimeter of the estate. The power went out, plunging the grand mansion into darkness. The hunt had arrived at their doorstep.
