Chapter 15 - The Trap is Set

Dominic did not confront Marcus immediately. Instead, he chose to play a dangerous game of counter-espionage. He used Marcus to feed false information back to Valentin Borzov, leaking a fake medical report stating that Claire was being moved to a specialized private clinic in Boston for emergency delivery.
"Let them think we are vulnerable," Dominic told Silas. "Let them think I am desperate and distracted."
Claire, despite her medical condition, insisted on being part of the strategy. She helped design the digital trap, embedding a tracking virus into the leaked documents. If Valentin downloaded the files, his exact location would be pinged to their servers.
The tension in the safehouse was palpable. Every tick of the clock felt like a countdown to an explosion. Dominic spent his nights analyzing maps, his mind calculating every variable. He knew that if he failed, his wife and children would pay the ultimate price.
On a rainy Thursday evening, the trap snapped shut. Valentin downloaded the files from an abandoned lighthouse on the rugged coast of Maine. He believed he had the perfect opportunity to strike Dominic when he was weakest.

"He's taken the bait," Dominic said, strapping on his tactical vest. He walked into Claire's room, kneeling by her bed. He kissed her stomach, then pressed a deep, lingering kiss to her lips. "This ends tonight, Claire. I am going to kill the monster that threatens our peace."
"Come back to me," Claire pleaded, her eyes shining with tears. "Come back to our children."
