Chapter 20 - Eternal Light

The morning sun broke through the clouds over the Hudson Valley, bathing the world in a warm, golden light. The storm had passed, leaving the air clean and crisp.

Inside the maternity wing of a secure medical facility, the atmosphere was peaceful. Dominic sat on the edge of the bed, his arm wrapped around Claire. She looked exhausted but radiantly beautiful, holding a small, blanket-wrapped bundle against her chest.

Their son had survived the ordeal. He was small but healthy, his tiny fingers curling around his mother's thumb. They named him Marcus, in honor of the friend who had given his life for their survival.

Harper sat at the foot of the bed, staring at her new baby brother with wide, curious eyes. "Is he going to be a brave knight too, Daddy?" she asked softly.

Dominic smiled, leaning down to kiss Harper’s forehead. "He’s going to be whatever he wants to be, sweetheart. Because the monsters are all gone."

Silas stood by the door, a rare smile on his scarred face, before quietly closing it to give the family their privacy. The Obsidian Ring was destroyed, Julian was gone, and the Rossi name was officially cleansed, its wealth completely transitioned into legitimate, philanthropic foundations. The past had finally lost its grip on them.

Dominic looked at Claire, his heart overflowing with a profound emotion he had never thought possible for a man like him. He leaned down, resting his forehead against hers, listening to the synchronized breathing of his wife and children.

"We did it," Claire whispered, a tear of pure joy slipping down her cheek. "We built our home after the storm."

Dominic kissed her lips gently, then looked down at his newborn son. The dark waters of the Hudson River would continue to flow, but from this day forward, the estate on the hill, and the hearts within it, would never again know the cold in the dark. Their future was an unbroken, eternal canvas of light.
