Chapter 6 - THE INTERCEPT IN LONDON

While her legal team dismantled her family's schemes in Virginia, Marissa was wrapping up her international fugitive operation in the heart of London.
Working alongside Detective Inspector Alistair Campbell of Scotland Yard, Marissa cornered her primary target—a high-level financial fraudster who had been evading US federal warrants for five years—inside an upscale hotel suite in Mayfair.
With swift tactical precision, Marissa disarmed the fugitive, brought him to the floor, and snapped handcuffs around his wrists.
"Target secured," Marissa reported into her radio, her voice steady and controlled.
Inspector Campbell laughed, wiping sweat from his brow as Scotland Yard officers led the fugitive away. "Brilliant work, Deputy Keane. I must say, given the personal chaos your family is causing back in the States, your focus is absolute terrifying."
"Focus is a choice, Alistair," Marissa replied, adjusting her shoulder holster. "And my family is no longer my problem. They're the Justice Department's problem."
Just then, Marissa’s encrypted phone vibrated. It was an urgent alert from her private banking security system.
WARNING: UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS ATTEMPT DETECTED ON OFFSHORE ASSET ACCOUNT - LONDON BRANCH.
Marissa’s eyes narrowed. Someone was physically standing inside a private wealth management bank in downtown London, attempting to access her international salary reserve account using her stolen identity details.
"Alistair," Marissa said, turning to the inspector. "Fancy taking a short walk down Regent Street? It seems my father just tried to make his final move."
Ten minutes later, Marissa and two Scotland Yard officers walked into the marble lobby of Barclay’s Private Wealth Management.
Sitting in an armchair in a private consultation office was Arthur Keane. He was wearing a suit he had bought with Marissa's stolen money, holding a fake power-of-attorney document, attempting to convince a terrified bank manager to transfer two hundred thousand pounds into an account in Switzerland.
Arthur looked up as the door opened—and froze.
Marissa walked into the room, flanked by armed British police officers. She looked immaculate, wearing her official tactical badge on her belt, her eyes cold and piercing.
"Hello, Dad," Marissa said softly.
Arthur jumped up, his face turning purple with shock and embarrassment. "Marissa?! What... what are you doing here?!"
"I work here, Dad," Marissa said calmly. "Did you really think you could fly to London on a last-minute flight, walk into my bank with forged papers, and drain my offshore account before I noticed?"
"I... I was trying to save our family!" Arthur stammered, looking around frantically at the Scotland Yard officers. "Paige is in jail! We need bail money! Your mother is having a breakdown! You owe us this money, Marissa! I am your father!"
"You were my father," Marissa corrected him softly, stepping closer until she was standing inches away from him. "Now, you're just an international fugitive attempting wire fraud on British soil."
Inspector Campbell stepped forward, placing a heavy hand on Arthur’s shoulder. "Arthur Keane, you are under arrest under the UK Extradition and Financial Crimes Act. You have the right to remain silent..."

As the British police handcuffed Arthur and led him out of the luxury bank lobby, Arthur looked back at his daughter, pleadingly. "Marissa! Please! Don't do this! I'm your father! You can't leave me in a foreign prison!"
Marissa didn't blink. She turned her back on him and walked out into the bright London sunshine, leaving him to face the consequences of his own boundless greed.
