Chapter 5 - The Public ExecutionThe news cycle exploded within an hour. Headlines across the nation broadcasted the scandal: Billionaire Investor Adrian Voss Accused of Kidnapping Pregnant Heiress.

Damon Cross had made a desperate, dangerous gamble. Knowing he couldn't beat Adrian in a private war of power, he decided to drag the conflict into the court of public opinion, hoping the media pressure would force federal authorities to intervene and strip Adrian of his legal protection.

Inside the grand study of Voss Manor, Adrian watched the live broadcast on a massive screen.

Damon stood behind a podium outside the county courthouse, flanked by his weeping mother, Margaret, and a high-priced defense attorney. He looked pale and haggard, but he played the role of the grieving, desperate husband to perfection.

"Adrian Voss used extortion and financial threats to enter my home two weeks ago," Damon lied convincingly into a dozen thrust news microphones. "He took my heavily pregnant wife, Elena, against her will to force me into liquidating my family's estate. I beg the authorities to step in and bring my wife home safely!"

Julian stood beside Adrian, his jaw tight. "The media is swarming the front gates of our estate as we speak, boss. Public pressure is mounting. The governor's office just called asking for a formal statement."

Elena walked into the study, holding a cup of tea. She watched the screen, her dark eyes flashing with absolute disgust as she listened to her husband's tearful lies.

"He's pathetic," she said, her voice steady and surprisingly calm. "He thinks he can use the public to force me back into his cage."

Adrian turned to her, his expression cold and calculating. "He's desperate. He knows he has no money left. This is his final card."

"Then let's tear it out of his hands," Elena said, stepping forward.

Adrian raised an eyebrow. "What are you proposing?"

"He opened this door to the public," Elena said, setting her tea down with a firm click. "Let's finish it in front of them. Call a press conference for tomorrow morning, Adrian. I will speak for myself."

"Elena," Adrian warned gently, walking over to her. "The media can be vicious. They will dissect your life, your marriage, your pregnancy. You don't have to put yourself through that."

"I spent months being quiet because I was terrified," Elena said, looking up into his eyes with absolute defiance. "I let him hurt me because I thought I had no choice. But I am not that fragile girl in the kennel anymore, Adrian. You gave me my life back. Now let me protect ours."

Adrian stared at her, feeling a surge of immense pride. She was no longer just a victim of circumstance; she was becoming a queen standing beside him.

"Julian," Adrian commanded, turning toward his assistant. "Arrange a live national broadcast from the grand ballroom of the Bellevue Hotel tomorrow at ten AM. Invite every major news network in the country."

"Understood, sir," Julian smiled grimly. "And what about Damon Cross?"

"Send him a private invitation," Adrian sneered softly. "Tell him if he wants his wife back, he should come get her in front of fifty million viewers."
