Chapter 7 - The Cornered BeastThe fallout from the press conference was catastrophic for the Cross family.

Within six hours of the broadcast, federal arrest warrants were issued for Damon Cross and his mother, Margaret, on charges of felony domestic abuse, reckless endangerment of an unborn child, and conspiracy.
However, when state marshals arrived at the Cross Estate that evening to execute the warrants, they found the gates shattered and the house completely deserted. Damon and Margaret had fled into the dark, utilizing old Syndicate smuggling routes heading north toward the Canadian border.
At Voss Manor, the atmosphere was alert and armed.
It was two o'clock in the morning. Rain lashed against the high windows of the estate.
Adrian sat in his command center, monitoring live satellite feeds provided by his private security network. Julian stood beside him, reviewing radio transmissions from local law enforcement.
"They breached the perimeter fence near the old logging road twenty minutes ago," Julian reported. "Damon isn't trying to escape to Canada, boss. He's lost his mind. He knows his life is ruined, so he's coming here."
"How many men does he have with him?" Adrian asked calmly, his eyes never leaving the thermal imaging screen.
"Six men," Julian replied. "Desperate Syndicate mercenaries paid with Margaret's remaining jewelry. They're heavily armed."
Adrian stood up slowly, picking up a heavy tactical sidearm from his desk and checking the chamber with smooth, practiced familiarity.
"Is Elena secure?" Adrian asked.
"Dr. Chen and Marcus have her inside the underground safe room," Julian assured him. "It's a reinforced steel bunker built into the bedrock. Nothing gets through that door."
"Good," Adrian said, a dark, lethal smile touching his lips. "Let them enter the property. I want this finished tonight."
Meanwhile, deep beneath the mansion, inside the warm, luxurious panic room, Elena sat on a leather sofa. Titan lay at her feet, his ears pinned back, sensing the rising danger above.
Despite the absolute security of the bunker, Elena felt a knot of deep anxiety twisting in her stomach. She knew Damon was capable of unspeakable cruelty when cornered. She wasn't afraid for herself anymore; she was terrified for Adrian.
"Dr. Chen," Elena said softly, looking up at the physician monitoring her vitals. "Can we see the security feeds from up there?"
Dr. Chen hesitated, then accessed a small tablet on the desk, mounting it on the wall so Elena could watch.
On the screen, six dark figures moved through the rain-soaked gardens of Voss Manor, stealthily approaching the rear glass patio. The lead figure was Damon Cross, wearing a heavy tactical jacket, holding a semi-automatic rifle. His face was twisted with psychotic rage.
Suddenly, the floodlights surrounding the patio burst to life, illuminating the courtyard in blinding white light.
Damon and his men froze.
Standing alone on the covered terrace, sheltered from the pouring rain, was Adrian Voss. He wore no armor, no tactical gear—just a black shirt, dark trousers, and an aura of absolute, terrifying dominance.
"You brought a few extra men, Damon," Adrian’s voice echoed through the external speakers, calm and cold. "I was hoping you'd come alone."
May you like
"Where is she?!" Damon screamed through the rain, aiming his rifle directly at Adrian’s chest. "Give me my wife, Voss! Give her back to me or I'll blow this entire mansion to hell!"
"She is no longer your wife, Damon," Adrian replied softly. "She belongs to a world you will never touch again."
