Chapter 9 - The Birth of Light

Two months later.

Spring had arrived in the Montana highlands. The heavy snow had melted, replaced by lush green meadows, blooming yellow wildflowers, and warm golden sunshine echoing off the peaks.

Voss Manor had been completely transformed. The cold, dark stone fortress was now filled with warm sunlight, vibrant fresh flowers, and soft laughter.

Inside the spacious, custom-built nursery overlooking the gardens, Adrian stood near a solid oak crib. He was dressed in a comfortable white linen shirt, his dark hair falling naturally across his forehead, looking relaxed and deeply happy.

In his arms, wrapped in a soft pink blanket, was a newborn baby girl. She had a mop of soft dark hair, chubby cheeks, and brilliant, sparkling grey eyes—the exact same storm-grey eyes as Adrian.

Her name was Sophia Vance Voss.

The door opened softly. Elena walked into the nursery, wearing a soft cream-colored sundress. She looked radiant, her body fully recovered, her eyes bright with immense joy. Titan trotted in behind her, immediately resting his large head on the side of the crib to watch the baby.

Elena walked over, wrapping her arms around Adrian’s waist from behind, resting her chin on his broad shoulder.

"She looks just like you," Elena smiled softly, watching the baby stretch her tiny hands into the air.

"Poor girl," Adrian chuckled softly, leaning down to kiss the baby's soft forehead. "She inherited my eyes."

"They are the most beautiful eyes in the world," Elena murmured, reaching up to gently trace Adrian’s jawline. "They saved us both."

Adrian turned slightly, wrapping one arm around Elena, holding both his women tight against his heart.

The legal nightmare was completely behind them. The divorce had been finalized weeks ago, stripping Damon Cross of every asset he possessed. The Vance family shipping empire had been fully restored to Elena's name, now managed under a clean, ethical corporate trust established by Adrian. Damon and his mother were serving consecutive life sentences in maximum-security federal facilities, forgotten by the world.

"Dr. Chen checked the final adoption paperwork this morning," Adrian whispered gently into Elena's hair. "Sophia is officially legally mine, Elena. No one can ever question her heritage or her rights."

Elena looked up at him, her eyes shining with happy tears. "She was always yours, Adrian. From the moment you picked us up out of that snow."

Adrian looked down at her, his expression turning deeply earnest, filled with a love so profound it brought a lump to his throat. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box, opening it to reveal a breathtaking ring—a rare, flawless blue-grey diamond surrounded by small brilliant diamonds, custom-cut to resemble a winter star.

"Elena Vance," Adrian said softly, his voice thick with emotion. "I spent my whole life living in shadows, believing that power was all I was meant to possess. You brought light into my life. You showed me what it means to truly love and be loved."

He slid the ring onto her finger, fitting perfectly.

"Will you make me the happiest man alive and become my wife?" he asked gently.

May you like

Elena let out a happy tearful laugh, wrapping her arms around his neck, being careful of the baby between them. "Yes! A thousand times yes, Adrian!"

Adrian pulled her close, kissing her deeply as the morning sun flooded the nursery in pure, golden warmth.
