Chapter 16 - Storm Over Brooklyn

The intel from Falcone led me to an abandoned shipyard in Dumbo, Brooklyn—the very location where my criminal empire had operated ten years ago. It was where all my sins had begun.
Rain poured down incessantly, melting the dirty snow along the pavement into murky dark streams.
I dressed in full black tactical gear, armed with dual suppressed handguns, smoke grenades, and directional explosives.
Victor insisted on accompanying me, staring at me with a mix of profound respect and subtle dread. "Boss... you look exactly like the day I first met you."
"The good man named Adrian died back at The Vault, Victor," I loaded a fresh magazine into my weapon. "All that's left now is the debt collector."
We breached the roof. Looking down through the grime-covered skylight, I surveyed the layout below.
Claire was zip-tied to a wooden chair in the middle of the warehouse floor. Blood trickled from the corner of her lip, but her eyes remained defiant. Liam sat in a portable carrier nearby, crying softly in fear.
Dominic stood a few feet away, sipping a glass of bourbon while flanked by nearly twenty heavily armed guards.
"Want a drink, Claire?" Dominic taunted, flicking ash onto the floor near the carrier. "Your husband was the ruthless bastard who built this city's underworld. Do you have any idea how many bodies he buried to afford that shiny penthouse?"
"He changed!" Claire spat toward him, her voice hoarse. "He is a good father and a loving husband! And you... you are just a pathetic, jealous monster!"
Dominic struck her sharply across the face, causing the chair to wobble.
CRASH.
The skylight shattered into thousands of pieces.

I rappelled down on a tactical line, opening fire before my feet even touched the ground. Two guards standing beside Dominic dropped instantly with headshots.
"HE'S HERE! KILL HIM!" Dominic shrieked, diving behind a stack of wooden crates.
