Chapter 9 - The Garden of Healing

Clara’s new home was a charming, weather-worn cottage on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below was a constant, soothing rhythm that slowly began to wash away the sharp edges of her grief.

She spent her days working in the garden. She planted tomatoes, lavender, and a row of bright yellow sunflowers. In the center of the garden, she built a small stone bench. Beside it, she placed a bronze statue of a little green dinosaur.

She started volunteering at a local community center, teaching art to young children. At first, seeing children Ethan's age was painful, but slowly, the pain turned into a quiet, nurturing warmth. She realized that while she could no longer hold her own son, she could still bring joy to other children.

One morning, while planting new seeds, she found a small, crooked crayon drawing tucked inside one of her old books. It was a drawing of a bright yellow sun and three stick figures holding hands.

Clara traced her finger over the crooked sun. For the first time in over a year, a tear slid down her cheek. But it wasn't a tear of pure agony. It was a tear of remembrance, of love, and of release.

"I love you, Ethan," she whispered. "I did it for you. And now, I’m going to live for you."
