Chapter 18 - The Betrayal Unveiled

By dawn, the Jersey City warehouse was surrounded by dozens of flashing police cruisers, federal vehicles, and ambulances. Marco Vane and Luciana Moretti were led away in heavy chains, facing life sentences without parole under federal racketeering and terrorism charges.
The bombs planted at the water plants were safely disarmed by FBI bomb squads using the codes seized from Luciana’s master server.
Vincent stood by the water's edge, watching the sunrise break through the storm clouds over the New York harbor, painting the sky in vibrant shades of gold and pink.
Tommy walked up beside him, handing him a warm cup of coffee.
"It's completely clean, Vincent," Tommy said, relief heavy in his voice. "Every lingering branch of the syndicate has been dismantled. The financial network is gone. There is no one left to come after us."
Vincent took a sip, looking at his long-time brother-in-arms. "Thank you, Tommy. For everything."
"Are you kidding?" Tommy grinned warmly. "I'm the head of corporate security now! Best legal job in the country."

Celia walked out of the command tent, wrapping her coat tight against the morning chill. Vincent immediately walked over, pulling her into his arms and kissing her deeply under the morning sun.
"We did it," Celia whispered against his chest. "Your father’s memory is honored, Celia," Vincent said softly. "And our children have a future without fear."
