Chapter 15 - The Hidden Vulnerability

Isla sat in the dim light of the kitchen, staring at the Swiss medical document. It detailed a severe case of internal trauma and poisoning—the result of a corporate assassination attempt on Roman years before they met, an incident Roman had buried so deep even the press never found out. The report implied that the long-term effects could be fatal if triggered by extreme stress or specific chemical exposure.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Isla asked when Roman walked in, his face weary from the boardroom battles.
Roman froze when he saw the papers. His jaw clenched. "It was in the past, Isla. Before you. Before Noah. It doesn't matter anymore."
"It matters because Julian Voss has this!" Isla stood up, her voice trembling with emotion. "He didn't just buy shares, Roman. He’s trying to poison you again, metaphorically or literally. He’s targeting your health to force a buyout!"
